VIDAHEALTH BRANDING
THE PROBLEM
As the number of Covid-19 cases skyrocketed in the US early 2020, so did the demand for personal protective equipment (PPE). By April, there was a nationwide shortage of face masks. All PPE was rightfully prioritized towards healthcare facilities and essential workers. However, this left the general public vulnerable. The lack of access to hand sanitizers and face masks became a national issue that needed to be addressed.
LOGO DESIGN & PACKAGING
VidaHealth was created as a solution to provide affordable N95 masks to the general public. Vida, in Spanish, means life. VidaHealth’s goal was to bring hope and life in the midst of darkness and death. While designing the VidaHealth logo, Brenda incorporated a dot in the midst of the word health, in order to emphasize “heal.” The branding was designed with the perspective of hope in mind. The packaging was designed to be minimal and environmentally cautious. Made of 100% organic linen, the pouch could be used to store the mask in-between uses. Brenda incorporated minimal sleek geometric designs to emphasize a clean/modern look. Throughout the design process, triangles were frequently used; intentionally alluding to strength, represented by the fact that triangles are the strongest and sturdiest of all geometric shapes.
MASK DESIGN
Masks came in two simple color options and were made with dual layer cotton fabric. The design features a slot to insert a N95 filter. On the tag, the logo was shorten to Vida in order to be more ecstatically pleasing and visually easier to read. The masks were designed to be both practical and fashionable. At the time, there was little to no variety in face masks.
MARKETING
Brenda designed a number of marketing materials for VidaHealth. This included a thank you card that came with every purchase. These cards allowed customers to learn the origin of VidaHealth, creating a stronger brand connection. On the card, Brenda choose to illustrate greenery to emphasize life.
